FESTIVAL DEI TIEPOLO
Research and Cultural Tourism Project on the Tiepolo Family and the Eighteenth Century in Friuli Venezia Giulia
"The Delight and Wonder of Living in the Countryside in the Eighteenth Century, Among Arts and Vineyards" Sunday, March 27, at Villa Manin Guerresco in Clauiano and at Cantine Foffani. Claudius gazed blissfully upon his sunlit lands, as the wheat ripened into golden ears and the vineyards prepared their plump clusters that would sweeten the autumn evenings. He would half-close his eyes, thinking of the future—his children, by the grace of the gods, would grow lively and beautiful. Who knows whether, in the dense mystery of his most intense and intriguing dreams, Claudius ever imagined that those lands would carry his name for centuries, for millennia—forever—like a love that never wishes to fade. And his must have been an immense love, if the name CLAUIANO today designates one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, which over the centuries has seen the rise of one of the most fascinating villas among the thousands that dot the Veneto and Friuli regions. Completely frescoed in the Baroque era, with astonishing paintings narrating the virtues—the very foundations of the soul—as well as the wars between Romans and Eastern peoples, depicted amidst allegories and cherubs entwined in swirling acanthus scrolls, VILLA MANIN GUERRESCO on Sunday, March 27 warmly welcomed the many visitors who filled it for the Tiepolo Festival. After leaving the Villa, still with eyes full of wonder, the evening joyfully concluded at CANTINE FOFFANI, where Elisabetta and Giovanni warmly guided guests among violets and mosaics, wines and the biscuits of the legendary Enzo CAVALLO. A journey through art and truly lived life. Wonder among wonders… ❤️
